Health Benefits of Pear

Pear is a juicy and sweet flavored fruit, similar to an apple. They are famous for their nutritious qualities. The botanical name of the pear is “pome fruit”, and the tree of the fruit is mid or average sized, which is mostly found in semi-tropical regions. The small sized pear has several seeds at the center. Other fruits of this family are Loquat, apple, quince and many others. Pears are classified according to their originating places like Asian pears and European pears. Asian pears are firm and crispy and the texture of these pears does not change even with after storage or harvesting, while European pears are juicy and soft.

Health benefits of Pear:

  • They are rich in Vitamin C and are suggested for manufacturing various traditional medicines.
  • It is a good source of B-Complex vitamins like riboflavin, folate, and pyridoxine and is also rich in minerals like iron, copper, potassium, magnesium and manganese.
  • Pears are a good source of antioxidants, therefore it can protect the human body from harmful radicals as well.
    Per fruit, it contains only 58 calories. Since it is low in calories and high in fibers so is good to manage body weight and can also manage the LDL cholesterol levels.
  • It can improve the intestinal health and digestion due to the high content of the non-soluble fiber.
  • The antioxidants of pear can prevent cancer and improve the immune system.
  • The vitamin C content of the pears can help in repairing the damaged tissues or in wound healing.
  • For anemia patients, it can help to increase the red blood cell count and improve the blood circulation in the veins.
